Many people seem to brand products - such as M & S sale - on eBay, I wonder where people so that they get to sell at a reasonable profit.

There are a number of ways you could approach this.
The first is to work on the measures taken by local potters and glass blowers. Most of these artisans are talented in creating their work, but not very good at promoting it. I want to sell for a commission. It is a way to keep costs down. You only pay the artist for his work after they get the money from his clients. Keep the Commission until it is limited to 35%, show the artists to actively promote their work and pay them promptly if you have a sale, and you have an inexhaustible supply and suppliers happy.
If you want to sell products manufactured in series, visit local Cash & Carry. They sell most of them, glassware and ceramics. In this way, you have the initial investment, but all they do to keep their revenue, after deducting the cost of the stock. You can sell this kind of work at lower prices than the work of local artists. Depending on where you want to create and what kind of customer wantsttract.
Another way to buy in the mass action, is to visit trade fairs like the Spring Fair held at the NEC. (They also have another call Autumn Fair.)
